Judge Dredd Potential Movie / TV Update…

A while back, it looked like a Mega City One TV show was on the way.  Rumours and industry gossip suggested Karl Urban would reprise his role as Judge Dredd following the well received 2012 movie, though it would be in a limited capacity and the series would follow an anthology format, focusing on different characters and different parts of Mega City One.

Urban himself (who by the way is absolutely killing it as Butcher in ‘The Boys’) has spoken many times about his enthusiasm to return to the role saying ‘I would dearly love the opportunity to play that again’.

Some potential news appeared this week in the form of Rebellion’s CEO Jason Kingsley, who offered an update to V2A Emergency Broadcast System (via Movieweb).  Apparently, multiple projects are on the way, and they’re itching to go once the Covid-19 Pandemic is under control.

“I want there to be a sequel. We’ve got the rights back so we can do it, we’ve just got to get rid of this virus thing that’s going on at the moment, and then hopefully things can kick off in all sorts of different areas of making film and TV, it’s just, it’s all very messed up at the moment for everybody.

A lot of work has been done on all sorts of different scripts actually. So Mega-City One, the TV show. Basically, we can’t go into production because of the [situation] and we’ve got scripts and everything is ready to go but the problem is, because of the [situation] and everybody’s funding changes and everybody’s shifting around.”

He even joked that ‘it would be quite fun to get Stallone back!’

  1. They could always do Anderson or any of the other Judges. The setting is the key player in the Dredd stories.
